Whiting Bronze Midge Saddle Grizzly dyed Golden Straw

Whiting Midge Saddle range are the ultimate for dry fly fanatics with Whiting boating that 80% of the feathers on a Midge Saddle will tie micro flies between size 18 and 24, with some of the higher graded saddles tying even smaller! Sturdy flexible stems are easy to work with and the stiff fibres provide excellent buoyancy, add into that the uniform barb length making your first and last fly look almost indistinguishable. The Whiting Midge Saddle has its advantages for dry flies but do not let this stop you trying it on streamers or Pike flies.Whiting grades their Saddles range Pro, Bronze, Silver and Gold. This guarantees that you know what quality of feather you will receive and estimate how many flies you can tie too!Ideal for upright dry fly wings, collars, Matuka, shrimp, Woolly Bugger, streamers, Pike, nymph, wet, Salmon and Sea Trout flies.-Value for money-Top quality-Incredible movement-Stable, soft and sturdy stemsMax Feather Length: 25cm

Please be advised that as a natural product there will be natural colour and size variations.

To Wash or Not to Wash?Whitings thoroughly wash all products in a mild detergent prior to packaging, so you should not have a need to wash your Whitings product when you receive it. There will be some natural oils present in the pelt which is acceptable and helps maintain the longevity of your feathers and allows the product to be more pliable. If you do choose to wash your Whitings product please ensure that you use a very mild detergent (Whitings recommends Woolite® brand soap) and to thoroughly rinse the feathers whilst ensuring the pelt is kept intact. Do your best not to remove the natural oils from the pelt as this will make the pelt frail and brittle and this will reduce the lifespan of your feathers too. Air dry on a cloth towel or sheet of newspaper for a few days, DO NOT try drying in a tumble dryer.StorageWhiting packs all their pelts with a cardboard back and sealed in their own plastic bag. It is recommended that you add a piece of paper towel to reduce the cardboard absorbing all of the oils from the pelt. Never allow the feathers to touch the skin of another pelt, always store pelts back-to-backAlways store your Whiting products in a resealable plastic bag to prevent any potential bug infestation and to keep your feathers straight.Do not stack pelts on top of each other, stand them on their side so they are not compressed.

Whiting Olympic Grading SystemWhiting developed their grading system to enable each individual cape or saddle across their full range of products to the same standard, so you know you are getting top quality when you buy Whiting.Whiting do not grade batch-to-batch, or push a pelt to a higher grade just to make a sale or meet demands. Whiting capes and saddles are graded without bias with the same methodology from the 1999/2000 season you can guarantee the pelt you purchased then is the same quality as the one you are looking to purchase now. When grading their pelts, one rule-of-thumb always stands true for Whiting: the quality level of the feather is always consistent. What does this mean? It means that each dry fly feather has a supple quill, void of twist, contains dense barbing and is greater than 85% web-free. If a pelt does not meet this core criteria, then Whiting does not sell it in retail.Grades:Gold - top of the range with a large variety of feather sizes, recommended to tie flies between #10-24, whole saddles expected to tie over 1,000 fliesSilver - high quality similar to gold but with less feathers, recommended to tie flies between #10-22, whole saddles expected to tie approx 800 fliesBronze - large variation between feather sizes, recommended to tie flies between #10-18, whole saddles expected to tie approx 500 fliesPro - excellent ratio between price and quality, recommended to tie flies between #10-16, whole saddles expected to tie approx 300 flies"
