Pure Silk
Pure Silk is a twisted pure silk, popular for traditional fly patterns such as spiders or Clyde style. If you are wanting to use Pure Silk flat simply untwist it by spinning on your bobbin holder. This dual purpose means it can be used in different ways and has added strength compared to traditional silks. Pure Silk has been developed to be a close match to the historic colours of pure silks as seen in the Edmonds & Lee book Brook & River Trouting for which we are lucky enough to have an original copy. Pure Silk has an approximate denier of 250d.
With Semperfli teams origins in Yorkshire, UK and having fanatical Clyde style and Northern Spider tyers on the Pro Team genuine silks were an essential part of the Semperfli range. When the team were lucky enough to get an original copy of the Edmonds and Lee book we worked with our Pro Team to match new silk threads against the original flies & flosses. As a consequence the # is the approximate colour match to the Edmunds & Lee colours.
There are 50m / 54.6 yards (approx ) per spool of Pure Silk
