F Fly Pattern Tie or Buy
The F Fly is one of the simplest and deadliest fly patterns. Designed by Marjan Fratnik it is an all round Trout & Grayling fly pattern. With its large flay delta wing silhouette it can be used to represent many caddis, olives and midge species. We have it in a range of different patterns.

F Fly Pattern Tie or Buy Pattern Step By Step Tying Difficulty 2/5
1 | Tie on the thread in touching turns to the hook bend |
2 | Add in either the CDC dubbing (with Nano Silk simply split and create aa dubbing loop) or wax with Uni. Rerurn to the thoracic area |
3 | Select three CDC feathers (size 16) or 2 for size 14 and one for size 20 or smaller. Match the feather tips |
4 | Tie the CDC feathers directly on top of the hook shank. |
5 | With finger and thumb pressure on base of the feathers puil these gently under the securing wraps to condence the wing and reduce the length. |
6 | Tie of and varnish the head. Note with Nano Silk you can achieve a stunningly small head with the F Fly and all micro flies |
F Fly Pattern Fly Variations
You can tie a variety of deadly variations of this pattern, the Pink F Fly is deadly for lifting grayling, Olive CDC and threads are superb olive imitiatoin for LDO, and all Olive variants.
