September is typically the last month of Trout fishing (in most of the UK). Wether you are fishing on rivers or stillwaters this month is ideal for
larger terrestrials, on warmer days you might find the odd
cranefly /
daddy flying around the place too.
Daddy or Crane flies are land dwellers and the wind blows them into the water, where they are devoured by Trout (like we would a Scone with Clotted Cream and Jam!)
They hatch on cool humid mornings in the ground and are not terribly strong at flying and is costantly being blown about by the wind.
When they land on the water their legs act as a trigger to the fish as they try to take off, so keep twitching your fly!
Free Hatch Chart Our hatch charts are offered free of charge to registered customers. They are released throughout the fishing year in advance to enable you to prepare in time for your fishing trips. They offer a reference chart by way of a guide as to what should be hatching in normal weather conditions. Please check the access instructions below. | | |
